Meet Spike - as his new owner named him! Fits him pretty good! Spike was created from a Pewter Micro Mini resin that was sculpted by Maggie Bennett and sold through EquinArt Creations. This mold has a really big head for such a tiny thing, so I took some pliers and actually cut a big chunk off the end of his nose and filed it back into shape with a rasp; then using the dremel I carved in the nostrils and mouth; carved his jaw line; carved his ears a bit; and shaped his hooves more. He also had no mane, so after sanding and sanding I sculpted a new roached mane as well. I could have probably taken more off his nose, in retrospect, but it is still a big improvement over the original! He was then primered and handpainted in acrylics to a silvery Dun Mule gelding, with 4-colored eyes, handpainted detailed hooves, and all the lovely striping and barring that goes along with these crazy-patterned mule types! He turned out great! He was sold on eBay in March of 2007 to Dawn C. of Montana! Dawn is going to send me a photo of him in his Micro Mini TACK - yep...there are people even crazier than me that make TACK for these itty bitty guys! When I get a shot of him, I will add it to my website! |
