Big Enough

This is Kathleen Moody's "Big Enough" Stablemate-sized resin. This little guy came to me with no stand and a cracked left front ankle. I removed the hoof at the break, broke off all the brittle resin around the break, then using a plastic welding glue, glued the pin back into his hoof. I used Apoxie Sculpt to fill in the missing parts of the fetlock, added a little to the lower leg bone to stiffen up the leg and give it more support, and added feathering to all 4 legs. I sculpted a new base from Apoxie Sculpt, and while it was still wet, I pushed his screw into the hole and impressed the bottom of his hoof and the bottom of the feathering into the base to leave a little mold print, which now allows him to "lock" into place. Both horse and base were handpainted in acrylics. The base is painted to look like sand. The Stallion I painted into this Pintaloosa (Pinto/Appaloosa) pattern, taken from a real horse. He has 4-colored eyes, and Appaloosa characteristics such as eye whites, pinking on muzzle and genitals, and striped hooves. He was donated to Spokane Model Expo 2005 and won by Deb Talbot of Spokane. Congrats Deb!
