This is "Brenin", a Traditional-Sized Welsh Cob Resin by Linda York. He was purchased by my friend Xavie as a "rescue" project from Horsing Around. Vanessa dug him out after Xavie asked if she had any seconds on this mold! He had not been prepped, and had been painted to look bronze. He had holes in his privates, mane, tail, and ears, and a few in his raised hooves. He had uneven seams, a million little air bubbles that needed filling, and a roughness in the mold process on the insides of both rear legs. He also had a seam running the full length of his base. I told Xavie if she bought him, I would fix him up for her in exchange for a few Hunt Jumps and Dressage Props (which Xavie makes!). She came through on her end of the deal very quickly, but I had other commissions to get done ahead of this guy, and he is finally done. He had quite a bit of dremel work done to even up his seams, has about a pound of Apoxie Sculpt all over his body to fill in holes and to reshape parts, and probably 8 hours of sanding (by hand!!). He was then handpainted in acrylics to this dark burgundy Bay. He has 5-colored eyes, pasteled and painted details on hooves, and is signed on his base by me. His base was done in acrylics also, to a textured sand-looking arena color. He went to his first live show on March 19th, 2005, where he took 8th out of 13 in English Pony. He was commissioned by and sold to Xavie Augenblick of Richland, WA, in March of 2005. |
