"Dabab" was created from the Peter Stone Chips Arabian and is comparable in size to a Stablemate. Dabab means "Mist/Thin Cloud" in Arabic. She used to be a he, so that was one of the things I changed. I carved ears, jaws, ankles, heel bulbs and raised hooves; then removed her tail, and - with a reinforcing wire - sculpted a new tail; and added a bridle path and a little more forelock. She was a problem child from that point on. I primered her in grey, and her paint job did not want to work, so I had to wash her off. Re-primered her in white, and used that for her base color. Pasteled many, many layers; and on about the 8th one - which should have been the LAST one - she decided to stick to the paper towel after her coat of dulcoat. ARGH! The paper towel took off all the layers down to her body color! I had to then go back, and - over the next several days - slowly build up the paint in those 2 spots until I could pastel again. Well, I finally got her all done, and she stuck to the paper towels AGAIN! This time, in a really BAD way...leaving little chunks of paper towel in her paint! I had to strip her shoulder, and - again - rebuild the layers back up until they matched. Dabab has survived my mood swings, and will go to her new owner Melyssa Hamn of Colorado. Sold May 2005. |
