This is the Hairy version of Galileo, sculpted by Tina Lamport and sold by Horsing Around. This is the third horse in the first batch I painted for Vanessa of Horsing Around. He had a few resin blobs to remove, and a few holes in his shoulders and hooves that had to be filled, but was a pretty easy prep job all in all. After spraying him with the wrong kind of primer, washing that off, primering properly, spending 3 days painting in acrylics and getting nowhere, I finally had to strip off his paint and start all over. That meant another shot of primer, which decided to have a reaction to something and bubble...needless to say, the horse that was ready first to paint, got done last due to painting errors! And, he got done in a totally different medium! He was hand-pasteled in 4 layers to a dapple-grey Shire. His mane, tail, socks, and blaze are handpainted in acrylics, and his hooves are done with both. His base was painted in acrylics to look like sand. All I can say is, sometimes the horses choose the color and style. People laugh when I say this, but it is true. As soon as I pulled those pastels out, he "came in" to his color like a champ. Sold 4/05 to Kerstin R. of the UK. |
