"Manai Rose" used to be Breyer's Classic-Sized Swaps. Her Sculpting was started by another artist named Elizabeth Valley (see photo 8); I ended up going a different direction with her. At that time, I added mare parts and carved hooves and heel bulbs (despite covering that up with hair later!) At one point, this mare was primered and ready to paint with the original tail in place, but the mane was blowing forward and the tail was blowing back - so off came the tail. Once I resculpted a new tail (it took 13 sessions of layering Apoxie to do her tail!), I had to add to her mane and forelock; then she went wild on me, and had to have feathering and a little bit of a wildness under the jaw. It was at that point that she decided to be a Dun. She was then handpainted a creamy color in acrylics, and then pasteled to darken her up with MANY layers of pastels, gloss and dulcoat! She has 5-colored eyes, a pinked blaze, and just a touch of a white sock on a portion of the left front leg. She was shown for me by Charlotte Donahue at Beach Party Live on June 25, 2005, in Chincoteague, Virginia. She was shown as a Kieger Mustang/Welsh Pony Cross, and took 6th of 17 in the Custom Mustang Class. She is now owned by Sandra D. of California. |
