Mr. Willy got his name in a funny way! Melissa has a bad habit of naming her horses after the artist - but this guy never looked like a Williford! So, after some witty, fun, and humorous E-mails, Mr. Willy was born. After getting her hands on the mom and babies, Melissa decided to send me the Stallion (see his original Unpainted pics here) to resculpt and paint as well. Must have been his "Flock of Seagulls" tail that did it! HEEHEE! In any case, he had even more paint and primer and layers than any of the others, and was still painted BLACK when he arrived, so I tried a new stripping technique on him and left him in a Ziplock baggie for a week with some Oven Cleaner...yep! It worked fantastically, but I do want to warn you if you try this technique: I strongly suggest you use a mask while spraying the stuff in, and that you DO NOT POUR the contents down the sink when you are through; it is TOXIC to the environment. I totally cleaned mine off over the garbage can...the Paint peels like sunburnt skin, using a paper towel and a toothbrush. AFTER all the stuff was off him, I washed him with Dawn dish soap and the toothbrush again in the sink. He was then given a newly sculpted mane and tail and new stallion parts, since the Oven Cleaner pretty much removed his old ones - yes, it IS that strong - then I primered him (you can see him on page 3 and 4 in primer) and handpainted him in acrylics to a deep, rich, dark Bay Sabino. This guy is really handsome! Owned by Melissa W. |
