This handsome guy started life as Breyer's G3 Stablemate Stock Horse Mare. I carved her mane and forelock off; removed her tail; carved her ears, jawline and heel bulbs; then started resculpting her. She got stallion parts added, new bristly upright stiff mane and skimpy forelock, and the Foundation Appaloosa's trademark Skunk Broom Tail. He was now ready for a FUN paint job. When I was a kid working at a stables WAAAY back when, there was this HUGE Foundation Appaloosa named Apache at the stables. He was a gentle giant, and I wanted to paint this guy in his memory...sort of. Apache was a Bay Roan Blanket, and this guy insisted that he wanted to be BLACK. So, with some new paints in hand, and many hours of handpainting hairs and spots, he emerged. And boy, I am SO pleased with him!! He won his first time out showing, taking First in the Appaloosa Breed Class, then taking Champion in the Stock Division! He was sold to my good friend Robin Lee after the show! Hopefully, we will see MORE wins out of that boy!!!
