Rayado Oro

This handsome, unusual-colored fellow was a show donation to Spokane Model Expo 2006. The resin is Waddie, sculpted by Sue Sifton and produced by Resins By Randy. Deb and Randy Buckler donated Waddie to Spokane Model Expo 2006 unpainted, sending him to me because Zana Goulding, the show holder, wanted me to paint him in my trademarked Brindle pattern. This boy did not need a ton of prep work: A few seams were removed and filled with Apoxie Sculpt, as well as a few air bubbles filled in on the mane and tail; and I decided to fuzz him out a bit and added more feathering to his fetlocks. After sanding, primering, filling, sanding and primering again, he was ready to paint. It took 22 hours of detailed painting, all done by hand in Acrylics, to achieve his coloring. His photos speak for him, and he is even more amazing in person. His eyes are incredible, his belly is ticklishly soft looking, his hooves are realistically painted, and his base is painted in to look like arena sand. He was put up for sale at Spokane Model Expo 2006, with a modest Reserve. I ended up being his high bidder (can you blame me for trying??), so after some discussion with Zana Goulding and Deb Buckler, we decided to show him for a season, and sell him at Spokane Model Expo in 2007 with all his ribbons and hopefully a few NAN cards to inspire interest in him. However, in March 2007, Zana decided she would be unable to hold her show in 2007; and with Deb Buckler's blessing, Zana decided to offer him up for sale as a 100% donation to a very good cause. 20 PMU Draft Cross foals were heading to slaughter on April 1st, and a Horse Rescue farm called Animali Farm was trying desperately to raise funds to get these foals adopted out. Beccy Fielding in the UK snatched the opportunity to own this handsome guy, and Zana agreed to accept time payments. Every payment was made and then deposited and distributed among the Draft Foals to lower their adoption fees. He raised $350 towards saving those foals, and I am happy to say all 20 were adopted in time! Beccy finally got this guy in her hands in June of 2007, and with him went three NAN cards (a 2nd and two 1sts) as well as his ribbons and a CD of all his handsome photos! I am proud to report that he won his very first class in the UK as well! Congratulations to Beccy on this handsome guy, now officially named Rayado Oro (Striped Gold).
