I don't paint many dogs, but this guy called to me. Cynthia Murphy of CSM Designs (see her work HERE) has always been an inspiration, and her beautiful Great Danes that I have added to my collection were the background inspiration to resculpt and paint this dog. He started out as Breyer's Great Dane, one of their Traditional Companion Animals. I sanded her seams, then went to work sculpting new "neutered" boy parts and filling in a little divot in his nose and recarving out the nostrils. He was then primered and handpainted to this Black and White Mantle - or "Boston" Great Dane Male. Zander spent most of the year with me, as I hated to part with him. He was completed back in May of 2006 and was successfully photo-shown as Zander the Great in several Online Dog Photo Shows. I finally decided to part with him in the Fall of 2006, and he was sold via eBay to Steph M. Hopefully, he will continue his show career in her photographically capable hands.
