Merry

This lovely lady Merry was created from the Breyer Traditional-Scale Merrylegs Mold. Merry and Merrian (see Merrian here) were sent to me as body horses by my friend Melissa Addison for me to remake into Harness Ponies for a donation to her Live Show. These two girls cost me SO many frustrating nights!! After fighting their roughness--these two Ponies were of the Old Mold Plastic, which is harder to work with because it is pretty darn durable, and it is known to be a "textured" mold so it is lumpy all over as well--I was finally able to sculpt Merry into some semblance of a nice little pony mare that was Tack-Friendly around her head and tail area. I started on these two in August of 2006; and after I got them in Primer I HAD to put them aside for a while--or I was going to do something nasty to them!! When I finally picked them back up in January of 2007 (thankfully, Melissa gave me a TON of time to get them done...hehe!), I got Merry painted to a beautiful Frame Overo, with a nice lacy pattern. I even found a reference photo, as MOST ponies don't lace out in this pattern like the big horses do. In any case, she was all done--and then I noticed a creaking coming from her tail area! Groaning, I applied a tiny bit of pressure on her tail; and sure enough, it was NOT connected firmly. I had removed most of her old tail, which had left a hole underneath that I had filled with Apoxie, and then I had inserted the wires I use for tail support. Well, the Apoxie must not have sealed to the insides of the hole; so I broke the tail all the way off. No sense messing around with it--if it creaks, it WILL break...and probably in shipment. So, I stuffed her full of foil at that point--and a tiny piece of Apoxie fell inside her--so she now has a lucky rattle; and I re-Apoxied the wire in place. I was VERY careful this time to be sure the tail was sculpted on solid! Thankfully, I was able to do all these repairs without damaging her paint job in the least!! She turned out pretty darn fantastic, though by then I was very ready for her to ship to her new home!! Melissa tried to sell these two as a matched set with her Pirate Chariot and Harness set, but for some reason no one wanted them. She then tried to sell them separately from the harness set, but refused to break up the two ponies. After they had sat on the market for a while, I decided they had had enough exposure; so I bought them back (to donate SOMETHING to Melissa's show!!); and they are now part of my stable forever. Who knows--some day I may decide to redo them and shag them out, as they cried out to be originally...hehe! NOT FOR SALE.
