"Chevy" has captured my heart! I created her by combining two Breyer Stablemate Scampering Foal molds (see Night Raven here). She has had her ears, nostrils, jaws, heel bulbs and raised hooves carved. She has had both front legs straightened; the right one was removed, pinned and resculpted; her left rear leg removed at the body and replaced with "Night Raven's" leg which was pinned and muscle-resculpted; girl parts were added; and Apoxie was fuzzed into her ears. I hollowed out both front hooves and part of the leg bones, then handsculpted a base using nails for supports. She was pressed down into the wet Apoxie so that she has a place for her hooves to "lock in" to the base, but her hooves are still visible. She was then handpainted in acrylics to this beautiful little Baby Silver Grulla Pinto Filly. She has pinking in appropriate places, 4-colored VERY expressive eyes, pastel-detailed hooves, and Dun-Factor Markings which consist of leg barring and a split back stripe. Her base was painted to look like sand and it has my Signature and Initials (JFW 05) on the bottom of the base. Chevy is not for sale at this time. She has charmed her way into my show string! Also, since she is a test run for the double leg/nail base, I want to be sure her little leg bones can survive a show season, as this base was much more tricky to sculpt. With the primer, the painting and the finish sprays, her hooves do not sit as tight as the other foals on the base. There may be some resculpting involved here at a later date. Owned by ME, 9/05. Update, 2007: I have made some changes to her. Go here to see her as she is now. |
